Artist’s
Statement
I choose landscape images because they capture my excitement for natural
beauty. I look to describe performances of weather, light coursing
through the ridges of forests, the moving surface of water, the quiet
weight of snowfall. It is important that I interweave my relation to
the image as it speaks of my sight, experience and memory of the time.
I view a printed image as it refers to previous work
and to where it might lead. Working through the steps in the process
is like hopping stone to stone across a stream. I have an image in
mind that provides the initiative to get across, while the destination
depends on the leaps taken. ~ May 1, 2006 |

Artist’s Statement
Believing that the threat to our environment is
at the forefront of all problems of society, and that art should evoke
controversy, Larry works to raise America’s conscience on environmental
issues.
Larry is a preferred artist for the U.S. Fish
and Wildlife Service, and contract artist for the Nature Conservancy,
creating murals for threatened wildlife habitat. Because of Larry’s
attention to fieldwork you will find that his north coast drawings
invoke a reality to place and nature. His local architectural drawings
capture the uniqueness of Humboldt County. |
